This blog has been written somewhat later than I would have liked, but for a very good reason. A few weeks ago, I was called on a Tuesday - could I do some work for the YMCA? I met them 2 days later, and started work on the Monday!
So, dressed in my special Native American Indian outfit, I turned up at 9.30 on the dot. Ok, so it was a black work dress and cardigan, but you get the idea (and the song was running through my head - true dedication surely?)
I'm pleased to say it's been a wonderful experience. I feel very happy to have a desk next to a VERY hot radiator in a beautiful Georgian house, complete with original fireplaces and standard lamp (hence the smug bespectacled cat image). The team here are friendly, kind and supportive and the work has been fantastic - lovely tasks like designing posters, tickets and web pages. (I know, total nerd).
Anyway, it will soon be time to say goodbye to the lovely people here, but who knows what the future holds? It's fun to work at the YMCA; I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a job with real purpose and a sense of contributing to the local community.
